It does not always have to involve an enemy to reach your demise. Many times, in enough time, you will cause your own demise.
It is easy for some people to 'let go' of their problems and give it to God. Most, have been doing this for years. Everyone is around when it's time to receive. When it's time to work, or give, we just give the responsibility to someone else. But, when we give our problems to God, we must be prepared to deal with that problem, when we face it again. This creates the difficulty for most of us. We can not keep trying to put the same type of problems on God.
The attempt to put the same problems on God shows our unwillingness to change our characteristics that cause the problem. Then we show two sides: we try to be Godly, at times, then un-Godly other times. But:
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Then, we get mad at our off-spring for continuing what we taught them. A leader leads by example, everyone messes up sometimes though. But, if someone frequently messes up, then they are a direction pointer and not a guide. A human leader is not the same leader through all characteristics. (A 30 year old leader from New York is different than a 10 year old from Texas.)
Matthew 7:18-21 (KJV)
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many times, we say that the problem lies with the fruit when the problem was cultivated by the tree. If we try to serve two masters, we teach contradicting lessons. This is a problem that plagues our offspring. Many of the problems that we see are just results of past problems. Unlearn.
