What Identifies You

What Identifies You
Marcus Lacewell
Think of everyone that you know.  Everyone has many characteristics that are similar.  Yet, each individual has a characteristic that sets them apart from everyone else.  These, individual specific, characteristics are almost impossible to break.  Like breathing, we do these things without thinking.  When you try not to do these things, you find that it requires years of practice.  A common example of this is saying 'huumm' while you talk.
It almost feels that we must reset our lives in order to do away with individual characteristics.  This is one reason for being 'born again.'  This way, you are giving a serious ATTEMPT to do away with your negative individual characteristics.

John 13:38
Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.

Many times, we tell God that we will lay down our life and do away with our negative individual characteristics.  God replies:

Matthew 26:34
Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

Though we may be content and mean well, when we promise God.  He knows the true difficulty of the task.  As humans, we commit to things that originate from a temporary feeling.  When the temporary feeling has left, so does our commitment.  It is not my place to say that it's wrong or right, but I do know that God knows the outcome.  Unlearn.
